My life is repetitious and boring.
The semester thus far has been preparing for the Qualifying Content Exam. This is an exam that LeTourneau gives us to see if we are ready for the REAL exam! 80% and above to pass. I have been studying about five hours or more a week in study sessions, class session, and on my own. This last week it has been cramming week. We have been meeting at our teacher's house twice this week, Tuesday 5-9 and Thursday 6-10. The first time she gave us hamburgers...not so great for me...a non-beef eater. The second time we had Italian food, pasta, chicken, rolls, Alfredo and marinara sauce, salad, home grown tomatoes, and it was sooooo good. We went over our tests, looked at flashcards, and chatted. Monday...yes this Monday, is the huge five hour exam. No breaks unless you raise your hand and they remove the test till you get back. The only break they expect you to take of course it to go to the bathroom and back. Five hours...I cannot even sit still that long on a normal day.
Student teaching is going well. My teachers are good. I am in second and fourth grade. The two are very different from each other. One is on the upperside of town (nicer, richer kids) and the other is on the southside of town (the whole class is pretty much African American). The teachers are opposite from one another. One is disorganized and tells me that I am not allowed to befriend the children. The other I have not gotten to know as well, but she is organized and has this way about her that demands respect and the most inviting smile. The age differences between the two groups is huge. One of the other teachers said, second graders are babies compared to fourth graders. This scares me.
I also have a job. I am a reading buddy. I got 7.5 hours in this week. I love it, it is the best job ever. I have it at the same school my second placement is at. Crazy fun.
