Recess

I’ll run, and play, and waste my day.
I was bound and determined to have it my way.
Who was going to try to stop me?
Who could tell me who to be?

Be it my teacher, mom, or dad.
I don’t even care if they get mad.
I’ll prance, and I’ll play.
Let it ruin their day!

Trying to teach me? Don’t even bother!
It goes in through one ear, and comes out the other!
Never try to sit me down.
My spirit simply will never be bound!

I smile, and I laugh.
I won’t do my math!
Happily, I start to sing
As the recess bell begins to ring.
